However, many guests want to know – How do I tell if my pin is real? As the risk of getting a scrapper pin in Disney trading from Cast Members is common.

Things To Look For: • Serial Number – Disney has started adding these in recent years. • Coloring – Look for true colors, anything yellow/green tint or off color is an indicator of a fake (yellow eyes are bad). • Rough edges – a real pin will have smooth, and not rough edges. • Disney Pin Trading Logo – is an indicator of a real pin. • Prongs – look to either side of pin back and you should see prongs, these keep the black rubber mickey head in place on official pins.

• Raised Front – the front of the pin should not be completely smooth, some texture is usually felt. • Gloss – Real pins have a nice shiny gloss on front. • Misspelled words – any misspelling on words on front or back of pin is a huge red flag (not are not so obvious and easily overlooked).

• Border on back – There should be no obvious border on the back around the Mickey heads, it will naturally fall off instead.
